Informed Consent Form

My name is Kristin Lenihan, and I am a graduate student in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Francisco. I am conducting this study as part of my graduate school requirements.
This research explores connections between aspects of religiousness and religious behavior and romantic relationship functioning. Participation involves completing a series of online questionnaires. The time needed to complete all the measures is estimated to be 30 minutes maximum.
All of your responses on the forms will be anonymous in that it will not be possible to identify individual participants. To protect your privacy, all printed research materials and data disks will be stored in locked cabinets, to which only I will have access. Research materials will not be identified with any names. The research materials will only be seen by me and my supervising professor.
Your participation in the research is voluntary and you may stop responding at any time during the study without any consequences. However, you will not be able to withdraw after you have submitted answers, because I am not collecting identifying information from you, and will not be able to trace your responses back to you and delete them.
There is little risk in participating in this study. Most of the forms have been used in many other studies with no ill effects. Additionally, you are free to stop participating at any point during the study.
You may benefit from taking part in the study in several ways. You may have the satisfaction of contributing to the body of knowledge concerning the psychology of relationships and religion, and of knowing that this contribution may potentially benefit the field of mental health. You may benefit in having the opportunity to spend time thinking about yourself and your relationships as you answer questions on these topics. You may also enjoy learning about psychological research measures.
You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in this study.
You can save or/and print this page for your records. However, other materials on this website are copyrighted and you must not save, print, or reproduce any other pages without written consent of the authors.
You will be given a space to provide feedback to the researcher at the end of the study.
You can request a summary of the results of this study after the project is finished by sending an e-mail to the researcher. The summary will be also available at this website psyresearch.org/couplesandspirituality when the project is finished (about 1 year).
